Machine tools and automation systems from Kempten. Founded in 1969, the company is one of the leading manufacturers of machine tools and automation systems.
Two machines were to be presented at a mechanical engineering trade fair in Shanghai/China. Unfortunately, Liebherr was allocated too little exhibition space for both machines and therefore one machine was exhibited virtually.
The aim of the virtual exhibition of the machine was to give trade fair visitors a realistic impression of the tool change process. All trade fair visitors should be able to experience the fast changeover times of the machine live.
We at in2reality processed the existing 3D model data of the machine and, after a brief consultation, created a VR application for the trade fair presentation. Liebherr then traveled to China with just a USB stick in its hand luggage and presented the generating grinding machine using rented hardware and VR glasses with a controller. All interested parties were able to watch the VR user change tools by following each work step on a large screen.
Since then, the VR application has been used at all other trade fairs, but especially at small trade fairs with insufficient space. The application also serves as a training application for future machine operators, as a sales tool for the field service and as a potential construction kit for product developers.
